BREAKING: ISWAP Terrorist Ambush Troops Kill Nigeria Army General In Borno
The Commander of a Nigerian Army Special force team, a Brigadier-General has been reportedly shot dead in an ambush by B terrorist of the Islamic state of West Africa province (ISWAP) in Borno State.
Sources from Frontline said four other officers were reportedly killed in the occurrence which happened at Bulguma, a couple of kilometers from Askira town in Askira Uba local Government Area.
Sources said troops of 28 Task Force Brigade, Chibok, had mobilised to reinforcement in Askira, which was under attack.
The soldiers were anyway ambush while on their way to offer support for the soldiers battling the insurgent.
Reports said ISWAP fighters storm the town in large convoy of gun trucks.
A nearby watchman had said they raged an army base and engage soldiers in gunfire.
It's pitiful day for us at the battlefield; we lost Brigadier Authority (names held back). The Brigadier General and officers who were headed to help our soldiers at Askira were trapped and shot dead by ISWAP contenders. We are miserable, a security source said.
The source added that contenders jets have besieged the dangerous gatherings yet the subtleties are not accessible.
The attack happened hours after National security adviser, Maj.- Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd), said the splintering of the Boko Haram terrorist group into ISWAP was affecting the fight against terrorism.
