ASUU: Strike Looms As FG Fails To Meet Up with Three-Week Ultimatum -Endabwediblog
This follows the lapse of the three-week final offer gave to the Federal Government
ASUU had on November 15, given the ultimatum proposal, requesting that the FG satisfy its needs or face another strike.
The union had encouraged the general public to consider the states answerable for another modern activity assuming it neglects to address their requests within the three-weeks, focusing on that ASUU is completely dedicated to uphold the academy integrity in Nigerian universities to make them more globally competitive.
However, ASUU's National President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke who spoke with DAILY POST on Tuesday, regretted that the final offer finished on Sunday without endeavors from the Federal Government to address their requests.
According to him, the union is set to make a move promptly the ongoing consultation with branches is closed within the week.
He said, "We have refered it to the branches they are to meet within the week and reply back before we take official conclusion".
When inquired as to whether the union has new requests, Prof. Osodeke said, "we had raised around six things and we need the government to implement them.
"There are many issues we raised which the government has not tended to and until they do that, we are prepared to take action".
Some of the major outstanding issues that are still lingering include, funding for revitalization of public universities, earned academics allowances, renegotiation of 2009 ASUU-FGN agreement, University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS) promotion arrears, and the inconsistencies in IPPIS payment..
